Festive look, colors bright
Me, dapped in green, orange and white But, to me freedom is still a far sight
A, century spent in the shackles of British Raj Lakhs of my children, burned at the altar of freedom
To protect my dignity and nurse me at the abode of Swaraj.
Joy was short lived Partition left me mutilated
The other facet of my children I experienced
Wounds were left unattended and my dreams were orphaned
Conspiracy, crime and corruption Poverty, political prowess and a
Common man’s disinterested helplessness Have overridden, patriotic emotions
Brighter side of the sad story
I have rest on you, the responsibility to regain my past glory Lead me to a day, where
I would be proud to be a part of celebrations, of this day
Until then it’s to you, my kids, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
